Assuming you mean The General at CB I agree with you although I think / hope we will replace Nobes with better before the season starts.

Re: Your starting ELEVEN

Assuming no more first XI incoming against Liverpool I'd play:
--------------------------Adrian
Fredericks-----Diop----Ogbonna-----Cresswell
-----------------Kouyate (C)-----Wilshere
Antonio----------Yarmalenko----------Anderson
-----------------------Arnautovic
Subs:
Fabianski, Zabaleta, Rice, Noble, Antonio, Masuaku, Chicharito
Missing out: Obiang, Fernandes, Balbuena, Snodgrass, Byram, Holland
A couple years back Kouyate was colossal for us, and we have to hope Pellegrini doesn't just buy a new team but gets our existing players playing better and on form.
Kouyate is our most physically capable player in midfield, and has in the past under instruction played that shield role.
If he can be given clear instruction, discipline and motivation, he's still our most capable DM. He's also captain of his country, and maybe the armband woukd give him some extra motivation.

Will Chicharito stay if he's faced with the prospect of being the eternal sub?

Maybe Balbuena for Ogbonna/Diop and Zaba for Fredericks depending on form. Rice to come in for Obiang as he matures? Lanzini for Wilshere towards the end of the season?

Re: Your starting ELEVEN

You may not want to do it against the big teams away but we need to try this and give Hernandez a go.
Fabianski
Fredericks Diop Ogbonna Cresswell
Wilshire Rice
Yarmalenko Mr Anderson Arnautovic
Hernandez
Need more 2 or 3 that have played in the league before.
Also Hernandez is on big money, not sure he will be easy to shift anyways. He might have taken a pay cut in January because, I think he was worried about his World Cup spot. Not so anymore.Let's see what he can do with proper support.

Same as opening post with seth’s formation.
A lot of unknowns in there. Exciting times ahead hopefully.

Arnie is on fire up front. I’d rather play two up front than move him.

I’m surprised by the number of XIs without Ogbonna starting.

Am hoping Cresswell not playing in a shithouse of a side will see him recover some form - Masuaku a very pacey and talented player just not sure about him defending in a 4.

Ogbonna isn’t actually very good, and he’ll probably be off anyway.

We can argue about how good he is and how not giving the ball away constantly might make him look, but there has been one transfer story about him leaving, that has not been repeated since. And that was before Reid.
I would like to see how our signings do before selling off everyone who has ever played in this league for us.

A lot of people have been saying Pellegrini favours a 4 2 2 2 formation, in which case I would go for:
. Fabianski
Fredericks Diop Balbuena Cresswell
Rice Wilshire
Yarmolenko Anderson
Arnie Chicharito

Thought Ogbonna had a very good second half of the season under Moyes in what was, on reflection, a terrible side.
Sure we shipped a lot of goals but on an individual level I thought he was one of the better players.

Re: Your starting ELEVEN

Competition for places is certainly going to be tough. I would think Ogbonna would start the season as 3rd choice CB so should get a reasonable amount of game time. Masuaku wouldn't be in most people's 1st eleven but can act as cover for either Cresswell or Anderson on the left. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Noble. All depends on whether Rice becomes DM of choice and then how much of a success he is in that position. Noble could end up being little more than cover for Wilshire, though that could mean he still gets quite a lot of games....
